Frequently Asked Questions

  • I offer online and telephone counselling and therapy to adults aged 18 and over who are based anywhere in the UK.

  • It can be helpful to have weekly or fortnightly sessions to begin with to help us establish a good rapport, but we can discuss the possibility of different frequencies depending on what best suits your needs and circumstances as you progress through your counselling journey.

I offer both short and long-term therapy, and it is entirely up to you to decide how many sessions you attend and you are free to end at any time you choose.

We will regularly review your progress to ensure that therapy is still helpful and meaningful for you.

  • I offer a free 15-minute introductory telephone call and a reduced fee of £35 for our first full 50 minute session together.

All subsequent sessions are £55 for 50 minutes.

I offer a concessionary rate of £45 per session for self-paying undergraduate students.

Payments are made via bank transfer (BACS) at least 24 hours in advance of our session.

  • Please try to give me at least 24 hours’ notice by sending a text or email if you are unable to attend a session, and I will endeavour to do the same for you.

The normal fee of £55 (or £35 for initial sessions) will be charged for sessions cancelled with less than 24 hours’ notice, or if you fail to show for your appointment.

  • I do not provide an emergency service for clients. If you find yourself in a major crisis and having thoughts about suicide or serious harm to yourself or another, it would be vital to get immediate help. This could include contacting your GP, going to your nearest Accident & Emergency Department or calling 999.

If you feel you need immediate assistance you may also consider contacting the Samaritans.

If you are based in Edinburgh, you can also contact the Edinburgh Crisis Centre if you are having a mental health emergency.
